by Universal Frontline

VRB001 - released 12 Jan 2007

Vibrawinky is the debut EP from Dan Flange (aka Universal Frontline).

On a recent trip to El Salvador Dan took this picture of a young girl selling huge firecrackers. "People love loud bangs there, you get woken by them every morning".

Dan spent his formative years in Birmingham's Selly Oak. Upright Upfront is dedicated to a double bass player he'd regularly see at a local jazz venue. "He'd play till his fingers bled, then he'd play on with blood dripping all over the stage". Dan believes in putting the same amount of work into his compositions. "The cuts and bruises live inside my head. With every track I can feel the blood run down the fretboard of my mind's guitar". Ouch. Spare the Band-Aid. Listen.

Vibrawinky was featured on the limited edition "Music To Replicate Data By Vol. 2" compilation released by Cognima in 2004. None of the other tracks have previously been released.

Reviews

"File this under "FF" for F'n FUNKY...but honestly if Funky was a Genre, this would be filed under it! Highly Recommended" - Net-label Review

"This good release is already a month old...their sounds funky - jazz - electronic are pleasant and exciting to the ear" - netlabelsnews (in Spanish)
